Examining socio-behavioural factors in HIV studies and vaccine trials

This study examined the social, cultural, behavioural and gender-related factors influencing the participation of 15 to 24 year old South African young women and men in HIV studies and vaccine trials. Laura led the qualitative analysis process that involved 10 researchers from Simon Fraser University (Faculty of Health Sciences, Vancouver Canada) with PHRU and Perinatal HIV Research Unit (Durban, South Africa), Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital (Soweto, South Africa). This study was funded by The Canadian HIV Vaccine Initiative (CHVI) in collaboration with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). (2016 – 2017)
