Social Wellness and Resource Development in Northern British Columbia

Researcher

In an effort to understand the social impacts of resource development on communities in Northern British Columbia, the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) Observatory on Population and Public Health (2016) initiated this project to understand the social wellbeing and social determinants of health associated with development efforts in the region and to develop monitoring and evaluation systems to track wellbeing. Laura conducted a literature review highlighting the social impacts of resource development, researched social indicators that may be used in the development of the evaluation system and provided recommendations for its potential implementation, including a participatory indicator development process.
