Researcher
This project involved researching and reporting on the use of sports to achieve health and protection outcomes for forcibly displaced youth to guide the development of global guidelines. Laura conducted this consultancy as an Associate of the International Institute of Child Rights and Development (IICRD, Victoria BC) with Dr. Philip Cook (Executive Director, ICRD). It was initiated and funded by The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Terre des homes (Tdh). Participatory field research was conducted with displaced youth and practitioners working with children and youth in five countries (Lebanon, Jordan, Rwanda, Kenya, Colombia, and Thailand), as well as online surveys for youth and practitioners, a desk review and key informant interviews.
